Azerbaijani minister: Armenia hinders UNESCO, CoE's fact-finding missions' visit to Azerbaijan's occupied lands

27 January 2010 [15:52] - TODAY.AZ
“The expected visit of the fact-finding missions of UNESCO and Council of Europe to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan is still being negotiated," Azerbaijan's Culture Minister Abulfas Garayev told reporters.

The minister said long-time delay of these visits was caused by obstacles created by the neighboring side.

“We are negotiating the visit of the fact-finding mission of UNESCO and Council of Europe for long time and the negotiations are still going on. The visit should be carried out with the agreement of both sides. Route and date of mission’s visit should be coordinated between both sides. The neighboring side is always tackling it as usual while Azerbaijan welcomes this mission," he said.

"We are observing the required conditions, but the opposite side is always hindering it. They are delaying it every time and such cases create problems for the fact-finding mission of UNESCO and Council of Europe," the minister said.
