50-cm snow in north-west of Azerbaijan

Snow of 50 cm thickness fell in the north-western regions of Azerbaijan. According to APA local bureau, intensive rainfalls have started in the north-western regions of the country since March 15 and it was replaced by slush and snow on March 16.
The snow of 15-20 cm thickness fell in the central part of Oguz Region and 30 cm in the mountainous area of Shaki Region. The most snowfall fell in Gakh Region. The thickness of snow in the central part of the region reached 15 cm, in the mountainous villages – 40-50 cm and even 50-60 cm in Ilisu and Saribash villages of the region. Zagthala and Balkan regions faced with less snowfall. The thickness of the snow was 5-10 cm in the town of Zagathala, 20-30 cm in the mountainous villages. It was 3-5 cm in the central part of Balkan region and 10 cm in the mountainous areas of the region. The snowfall didn’t create traffic problems in the region. The weather condition caused interruption in the electric supply of some villages. The immediate measures have been taken for lifting of the results of accidents, local officials told APA.

The slush and snowfall continues in the north-western regions of Azerbaijan.
