06 March 2009 [11:06] - TODAY.AZ
Georgian state minister on diaspora issues Yulon Gagoshidze, visiting Baku, suggested to the Azerbaijani side to conclude a memo of cooperation of the state bodies on work with the diaspora of the two countries.
"This document will close ties and relations not only between the Azerbaijani and Georgian diasporas but also the due state bodies", announced Gagoshidze Thursday at a meeting with chairman of the Azerbaijani state committee on diaspora issues Nazim Ibrahimov.

In turn, Ibrahimov positively assessed the idea of signing such a document, noting that the memo will promote exchange of experience between the due state bodies of the two countries. The chairman of the state committee also stated the need to provide mutual support by Azerbaijani and Georgian diasporas. "We want Georgian diaspora and the diasporas of a number of other peoples to be near Azerbaijanis, residing in the world", said Ibrahimov, stating the need to take definite steps in this direction.

Ibrahimov noted that Azerbaijani diaspora organizations are closely cooperating with the diasporas of different countries, "assimilate their positive experience and apply it in their activity".

The Georgian Minister, in turn, announced that through five years of its activity the structure he heads established ties with 52 organizations of Georgian diaspora. "The Georgian diaspora is large, the diasporas of other countries, including Azerbaijani provides necessary assistance to its formation and activity", said Gagoshidze.
