Azerbaijani scientists attend conference "Influence of Turkish language and culture on the Caucasus"

The event, organized by the governor of Ardakhan, University of Ardakhan and Turkish Language Association, is also attended by Georgian scientists.

According to head of the Turkish language association, professor Shukru Khalik Akalin, the event is aimed to inform the scientist about the contribution made by Turkish language and culture to the languages and cultures of other countries.

Akalyn also commented on the visit to Armenia of Turkish President Abdullah Gul and watching the match between the football teams of the two countries. Noting that this visit implied the start of a new stage, the head of the association said the following: "Interpretation of events, held in the history, should be left to historians and they should be considered in the light of scientific data. Turkey decided to open the archives. The same should be done in Armenia and then it will become an important step in getting a chance to settle the problems.

The fact that Armenians recognized how happy they lived on these lands, is their great debt to the history and Turkey. After consideration this truth, there can appear an opportunity for the more correct and cool-blooded discussions of 1915 events. We should not fare the verdict of history".

During the conference the scientists discussed the contribution of the Turkish language into the Armenian, traces of Turkish language in the toponymic names of Georgia, traces of the Turkish culture.

Excursion on Ardakhan will be held Friday in the framework of the visit of scientists to Turkey.
