TV channel covering the entire Caucasus to be opened in Azerbaijan

21 October 2008 [16:34] - TODAY.AZ
"Azerbaijan is a leading state in the Caucasus.

There is a need for a new TV channel in Azeri, English and Russian covering the entire region in order to strengthen information provision," chairman of National Television and Radio Council Nushiravan Maharramli told APA.

Nushiravan Maharramli said that the new TV channel covering more information and analytical programs might be opened in the near future.

"Establishment of such a TV channel requires much money. Therefore, it is impossible to say definitely when the channel will be opened," he said.

Nushiravan Maharramli also said that new regional channels Yevlakh TV would open in Yevlakh and SE TV in Sheki.

"The issue on opening new TV channels in other regions will be considered after that. All main regions will have regional channels before the parliamentary elections. There are 14 regional TV channels in Azerbaijan now," he said.
