The Society of Animals Defenders has prepared compiled laws on regulation of stray animals populations, said honored chairman of the society Azer Garayev.
He noted that though Azerbaijan had joined the European Convention of Animals Protection long before, the country still regulates populations of stray animals by inhumane methods.

In this connection compiled laws on regulation of stray animals populations have been developed to submit to the Baku mayor's office by late August. They fix such issues as regulation of the populations of stray animals, measures of their vaccination, sterilization, identification and so on.

Garayev said the process of regulating the populations of stray animals should be treated with use of complex approach. First of all, it is connected with the problem of waste accumulation in residential houses. The refuse bins should be close and not overfilled, as it attracts attention of the stray animals.

He also noted that a delegation of the World Association of Animal's Rights will visit Azerbaijan in November of this year to hold meetings with power representatives on the said issue.
