Azerbaijani citizen trying to smuggle hundreds of thousands of dollars and euros detained in Moscow Sheremetyevo airport.

An Azerbaijani citizen was detained during the customs control of passengers, who arrived by Baku-Moscow flight.

According to Echo Moscow, foreign currency in the amount of $290,802 as well as 21,000 Russian rubles was found  during inspection of his hand luggage.

Moreover, he attempted to smuggle undeclared foreign currency in the amount of EUR 181,000.

It was decided to hold the personal inspection of the citizen of Azerbaijan. Russian customs officials revealed another $870 and 20,850 rubles.

Thus, the total amount of illegally smuggled currency topped 13,000,000 rubles (nearly $555,000). The issue of investigating criminal case on section 1 article 188 of the Criminal Code "Smuggle".
