Defender of Azadlyg newspaper correspondent files claim against inspector of Investigation Department of Grave Crimes

Elchin Sadyghov, defender of previously beaten and stabbed correspondent of Azadlyg newspaper Agil Halil filed a claim against Ali Guliyev, inspector of the Investigation Department of Grave Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office, in the Nasimi district court, says a message from the Media Rights Institute.

The claim says that Sadyghov was not allowed to use his rights of defense in the Investigation department of grave crimes, being kept in a closed space for over 12 hours, and inspector Ali Guliyev did not allow him to quit the building.

The claim says that investigator Guliyev thus violated article 5 and 6 of the European Convention of Human Rights.

The claim requests the court to demand a compensation from Guliyev.

It should be noted that Azadlyg newspaper correspondent Agil Halil and his defender Elchin Sadyghov were invited to the Investigation Department of Grave Crimes under the Prosector General's Office.
