Azerbaijan's Court of Grave Crimes today continued the trial of the gang led by Haji Mammadov, former high ranking official of the Interior Ministry Crime Investigation Department.

The decision of the court deliberation on the solicitation of lawyer for Elshan Mirzayev for his acquittal was announced. Judge Ali Seyfaliyev dismissed the solicitation considering it groundless APA reports.

On Thursday defense-lawyer for Elshan Mirzayev solicited for exclusion of Sidek Abdulvahabov and Aslanbek Kentamirov's testimonies against Elshan Mirzayev from the list of evidences, dropping the charge against him.

Lawyer for Elchin Aliyev demanded the court to investigate Haji Mammadov’s testimony on an attempt to terrorist act in the country. Public prosecutor Abdullah Yusifov said the Prosecutor's Office has ordered relevant investigating bodies to investigate the testimonies on the so-called terrorist attempt.

Defendant Nizami Abdullayev was to testify upon the trial today. But he asked for postponing this as he was ill

Haji Mammadov's cousin Farhad Mammadbayov testified. He said his crimes have been distorted in the indictment, and his testimonies against Haji have been exaggerated. Mammadbayov asked for dropping the charges on attack on Baku International company's collector, several manslaughters, including AFFA vice-president Fatullah Huseynov, criminalist Rovshan Aliyev and kidnapping of Murad Kazimov.

Mammadbayov answered the questions on the kidnapping of Zamira Hajiyeva, International Bank of Azerbaijan Managing Staff chairman Jahangir Hajiyev's wife, "I talked to Jahangir twice and Zamira's sister over the telephone after her kidnapping. Haji had told me before the kidnapping that he was to buy a house for Zakir Nasirov, former chief of the Crime Investigation Department."
