Editor-in-chief of the newspaper Ganimat Zahid stressed the importance of investigating this case. He also said the law enforcement bodies have been informed about the event, APA informs.
The director of Qanun Publishing House Shahbaz Khuduoghlu said any act against journalists was a threat to the society. He considers that the media should unite their efforts and prepare a conception regarding the situation.
The Director General of Turan Information Agency Mehman Aliyev said that journalists have not demonstrated solidarity recently.
"Such acts are against freedom of expression. The authorities should prevent these cases and comment on the issue related to Fikret Huseynli," he said.
The editor-in-chief of the newspaper Yeni Musavat Rauf Arifoglu said there is no need to complain but defend yourself. He added that the Editors' Union should take a prompt action about it by organizing the protest of journalists.
The Editors' Union determined to stage a protest. The date of the protest will be fixed in the next meeting of the Union on March 9.
"It is own business of the Editors' Union to stage a protest action with regard to violence act against the correspondent of Azadliq newspaper Fikret Huseynli. The Press Council has other functions concerning this case," head of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov told.
Mr.Amashov said that it is early to hold someone responsible for this act. "We'd better wait for the decision of the law enforcement bodies in order to adopt a final decision." Amashov also said that the Press Council has sent a letter to the law enforcement bodies related to the case.
