Foreign Ministry comments issues by some European media, touched feelings of Muslims

"Azerbaijan always supported and stimulated dialogue between religions, regarding it as necessary for strengthening of mutual respect and understanding between religions," said Tahir Taghizade, the head of the Media and Information Policy Division of the Azerbaijani Foreign Affairs Ministry.

He was commenting the official position of the Ministry to the situation, emerged in regard to publish of the cartoons of Prophet Muhammad by some western media, Trend informs.

Taking into consideration that Azerbaijan is a secular state, where representatives of different religions live and the majority of the population is Moslems, the negative issue by some European media touched the feelings of the country's Muslims. "We estimate it as disrespect to Islam and condemn similar steps. Azerbaijan is officially a supporter of the solution of the situation through constructive dialogue," Taghizade underlined.
