Misir Mardanov: “Primary education in Azerbaijan is expected to be 5 years by 2007”

Primary education in Azerbaijan is expected to last for 5 years by 2007. Besides, several subjects will be abolished and new subjects meeting modern standards will be taught instead.
It is planned to start the teaching of foreign language and information form the first form, to teach new subjects called human rights and morality.

APA was informed by Education Minister Misir Mardanov that, new curriculums will be used in the secondary schools by 2007, in accordance with the program of education reforms implemented in cooperation with the World Bank.

The Minister considers the Ministry’s position regarding the teaching of religion in the secondary schools is right: “I think, our position is right. We shall teach the religion in the morality lesson by 2007.This subject will be taught in several forms, especially in senior forms”.

According to Misir Mardanov, the examination held by the Calculation Chamber in the educational institutions has not finished yet.
