Turkey to begin hydrocarbon exploration in North Cyprus in 2-3 months

The Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) will begin the ground seismic hydrocarbons research in Northern Cyprus in the next 2-3 months, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz was quoted by Sabah newspaper as saying.

TPAO and Shell oil companies signed the agreement on joint exploration and production of oil and gas in the Mediterranean on Nov.23. The exploration work will be carried out in an area of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

These operations are Ankara's response to the similar work carried out by the Republic of Cyprus in Mediterranean Sea in late September.
