26 November 2011 [15:45] - TODAY.AZ
Heavy snowfall and snowstorm in Iran's northern region bordering Azerbaijan caused serious problems as a lot of people were trapped at roads, Hussein Derahshan, Press Secretary of the Red Crescent Society of Iran, was quoted by Iranian news agency FARS as reporting on Saturday.

So far, 320 people of those caught by the snowstorm at a highway leading to Tebriz have been provided aid; however, more than 300 people continue to remain at roads so attempts are being made to aid them.

As a result of the snowstorm, many people were also caught at roads of Iran's provinces South Azerbaijan, Gilan, Tehran, and Alborza. Road traffic in some of these provinces has stopped. Several villages in province Ardebil lost link to the center. Schools in Ardebil have been closed due to the cold weather.
