Georgia to build new district

Tbilisi is launching the construction of a new district, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said at the opening of Tbilisi Mall in the South Caucasus today.

Sakashvili said the new district will cover several hundred hectares on Digomi valley. It will be done for Georgia to get closer to European standards.

"According to European standards, 30 square meters must fall per capita," he said. "But the figure is 15 square meters in Georgia. Saakashvili said that the roads will be laid. The underground branch will be constructed.
