U.S. Secretary of Navy to arrive in Georgia

The U.S. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus will today pay a two-day visit to Georgia on Friday, Nov.18. During the visit Mabus will meet with Georgian government representatives and senior officials of the National Defense Ministry, the U.S. Embassy in Georgia said Thursday.

Subordinate to the Secretary of Defense, the U.S. Secretary of Navy is the Chief Executive Officer, subordinated to the Minister of Defense, and is responsible for all the affairs of the Department of the Navy.

The Department of the Navy consists of two services: the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps.

The Secretary is responsible for the formulation and implementation of policies and programs that are consistent with the national security policies and objectives established by the President or the Secretary of Defense.
