The Iranian Parliament is studying a project for increasing the number of MPs, IRINN TV quoted Iran’s Vice-President for Parliament Affairs Mohammadrza Mir-Tajeddini as saying.
If the Commission on Parliamentary Affairs completes the project and presents it to the Parliament for approval during two months, more 20 people will take seats in the parliament by the forthcoming parliamentary elections in March 2012, Mir-Tajeddini added.
Today, the number of Iranian MPs is 290.
The 9th are scheduled for March 2012. Pre-election headquarters in Tehran province will begin functioning on October 12.
Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said late August the elections should be well safeguarded as "a divine blessing".
