New education year to begin across Turkey on Sept.19

The new education year in schools across Turkey will begin on September 19.

Nearly 16 millon students and 700,000 teachers will go to schools in 2011-2012 education year which will continue till June 8, 2012.

There are 32,797 elementary schools in Turkey which give education to 19.9 million students. 503,328 teachers are working in these schools.

Turkey has 27,606 pre-school education institutions which have 1.1 million students and 48,330 teachers.

National Education Ministry will distribute a total of 204.2 million text books for free to teachers and students in schools across Turkey in 2011-2012 education year.

First period in 2011-2012 education year will end on January 20, 2012. Vacation between first and second periods of 2011-2012 education year will be between January 23 and February 3.

2012-2013 education year will begin on September 17, 2012.
