Turkey and Ukraine to abolish visa regime?

Turkey and Ukraine are preparing to abolish the visa regime, Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey, Sergei Korsunsky said, Turkish media reported.

To him, an agreement on abolishment of visa regime will be signed in December, 2011, during the visit of President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to Turkey. During this visit, meeting of the Strategic Council will be held under the leadership of Presidents of Turkey and Ukraine.

The ambassador noted that the agreement on visa-free regime will be ratified by the parliaments of Turkey and Ukraine in May, 2012: “It will allow the Turkish fans to take part in the European football championship to be held in 2012 in Ukraine. If the team of Turkey will come to the final, it means for us to 1 million tourists”.

Korsun added that every year 40 thousand Turks come to Ukraine, and 750 thousand Ukrainians to Turkey.
