Ahmet Davutoglu on NATO's early-warning radar system

05 September 2011 [10:08] - TODAY.AZ
"Missile defence system is only an early warning system, Davutoğlu said, adding that the conviction that a missile warfire would break out over Turkey is falsified, TRT reported.

"Missile shield system is an integrated NATO project. We expressed our concerns as we developed this project, thus, the decision at Lisbon summit heeds these concerns. We have set some groundrules such as; no country would be pointed as target, Turkey would have a say in the decision making process and Turkey's borders and integrity would be protected by this system. There is this opinion that missiles would be deployed in Turkey and the country would come under attack. This is simply the part of an integrated system. Turkey will host only a radar system, not missiles. Each and every one of the countries in the system makes contributions of their own. Ours was to host the radar system," Davutoğlu said.
