
Food prices in Armenia to be disproportionate to average salaries, Tert.am reported.
In August alone, the prices on the food markets (including tobacco and alcoholic beverages) increased by 7.5% compared to the same period of last year.
According to official statistics, the average salaries in July grew only by 6.7%, making 120,863 drams (about $328.8). It is noteworthy that the salaries in the public sector grew by 6.2% (98,334 Drams or about $265) and those in the private sector - by 6.4% (147,83 drams or about $340).
The same data suggest that the expenses on food products (without alcoholic beverages) made 51.9% of the Armenia's average consumer expenses.
