Presence of political prisoners puts obstacle to dialogue with Armenian authorities- oppositionist

The three young activists of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), detained in August 9 incident, are political prisoners, News.am reported. The ANC will decide on the expediency of further dialogue with Armenian authorities, unless their status is determined before the next round of the dialogue on August 16, Spokesperson for the ANC Arman Musinyan told a press conference on Monday.

"It puts an obstacle to the dialogue with the incumbent authorities. However, there is still 24 hours. We will specify our actions till tomorrow," Musinyan noted.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, Armenian police filed criminal a case against 7 young activists of oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC), who were taken to Kentron police department on Tuesday.

Tigran Arakelyan , Sahak Muradyan, Areg Gevorgayn, Sargis Gevorgyan, Artak Karapetyan, David Kiramijyan and Vahagn Gevorgyan were apprehended. The ANC activists were detained on Tuesday, around 10:00 p.m. from Northern Avenue of Yerevan downtown.

Criminal case was filed under Part 3, Paragraph 1 of article 258 of the Criminal code (hooliganism), and article 316, part 1 (violence against law enforcement agents).
