Georgia will begin issuing ID cards for a new generation as of Aug. 1. As the Justice Ministry’s Civil Registry Agency told Trend, this date will be finalized by Batumi House of Justice officials.

According to the Registry Service, the new cards carry a high-tech, maximum anti-forgery protection.

A new ID card may be obtained after on old ID card expires, in case of damage, loss, change of name of the holder, or discovery of a mistake. Otherwise, the new ID card may be obtained voluntarily.

The cost of a new ID is 30 lari ($1 = 1.66 lari). Persons with financial difficulty will be given assistance.
