People to protest privatization of TV tower in Tbilisi

The Media Advocacy Coalition will organize a protest against the privatization of the Tbilisi TV tower today , the coalition reported.

Journalists plan to hold a protest rally in front of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, to demand postponing the auction and more clarification of conditions, Coalition member Eliso Chapidze said.

"We're not against the privatization. We just want more transparency as public interest towards these facilities is very high. Potential buyers must be given more time to understand what they need to invest 12 million lariu in", Chapidze said.

Chapidze said it would be better if the auction does not take place until transparency is established. She also reported that the TV Company "Caucasia" is one of the registered potential investors.
