Iran installing smart monitoring systems along borders

19 July 2011 [13:46] - TODAY.AZ
Iran has installed intelligent monitoring systems along its borders that will automatically fire bullets at anyone attempting to illegally enter the country, Iranian Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs Ali Abdollahi announced, Tehran Times reported.

Serious measures have been taken to maintain tight control over the borders, such as the installation of smart systems and barbed wire fences, the establishment of lookout posts, and the digging of trenches, Abdollahi told reporters in the northeastern city of Mashhad.

Iranian security forces will firmly deal with anyone attempting to illegally cross the border, he added.

He went on to say that securing the eastern borders is a priority for the country.

So far, 60 to 65 percent of the eastern borders have been sealed, Abdollahi stated, adding that Iran plans to secure all its borders, and a number of plans are currently being implemented to this end.
