Supreme Leader: Avoiding negative view of Iran economy is necessary

It is necessary to avoid a negative view of the country’s economic situation, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said, Mehr News Agency reported.

Khamenei advised all officials and Iranian powerful individuals to avoid negative analyses and to take positive hopeful position in this issue.

He estimated Iran’s achievements in the economic field as convincing and underlined that there is a n impressive progress in various areas of Iranian economy.

The Iranian Parliament charges President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with a gross violation of laws, including with spending the budget funds on illegal needs. MPs accused Ahmadinejad of importing a huge amount of gasoline without Parliament’s approval.

Earlier, Director of Strategic Research Center of parliament Ahmad Tavakkoli accused Ahmadinejad of giving wrong statistics about unemployment, GDP growth and charged him with hiding the economic failures by proving wrong figures.

Meanwhile, the head of the Iranian parliamentary energy commission Mohammad Reza Katuzian says that several construction projects, including the South Pars gas field development project, were suspended because of assigning the construction expenses to other spheres.

Iranian government cut subsides for commodities and energy products in September 2010 and has started to deposit 440,000 rials ($40) per month to citizens’ bank account to compensate cut in subsides.

Katuzian denounced lack of transparency in Ahmadinejad’s government.

"The energy commission is investigating the case of a $11.2 billion oil income, which was not remitted to the Sovereign WealthFund. There are also suspicions about the use of $7.7 billion on oil projects through the National Oil Company," he underlined.
