American tourists to Turkey rise by 30%

There has been a remarkable increase in the number of American tourists visiting Turkey, an official from Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism said on Thursday.

Cumhur Guven Tasbasi, director general of promotion department at the ministry, who is currently holding talks in New York, said that the number of American tourists visiting Turkey rose by 30 percent in the first four months of 2011 over to the same period last year.

Tasbasi attended Turkish flag raising ceremony held at Wall Street ahead of Turkish Day Parade which will be on Saturday, May 28th, 2011.

"More than 130,000 American tourists visited Turkey between January and April 2011. The figure was 100,000 in the same period last year," he said.
