Turkey draws 3.67 million tourists in Jan-Mar 2011

Turkey has received 3.67 million tourists in January-March period of 2011, with a 15.56 percent increase in the figures of the same term of 2010.

Visitors in March 2011 also increased by 14.36 percent compared to the same month of last year and reached 1.61 million, according to the web-site of the Turkish tourism ministry.

Turkey received the highest number of visitors from Iran, followed by Germany, Bulgaria and Russia in March 2011.

Nearly 2.18 percent of the total 3,673,010 tourists that visited Turkey in January-March period were day-trippers, the tourism ministry said.

During this term, visitors mostly came from Germany (14.62 pct), Iran (13.03 pct), Bulgaria (7.52 pct), Georgia (5.67 pct), Syria (5.45 pct), Russia (4.88 pct), Azerbaijan (3.6 pct), France (3.57 pct), Greece (3.51 pct) and Britain (2.87 pct).

A total of 537,017 visitors came from Germany, 478,689 from Iran, 276,189 from Bulgaria and 208,437 from Georgia in the said period, the ministry said.
