Iran, Armenia can play role of regional energy operators

Iran and Armenia can play role of regional energy operators, Armenian Energy Minister Armen Movsisyan told Iranian ISNA news agency. He noted that relevant programs are elaborated.

According to him, 80% of Armenia’s cooperation with Iran falls to energy sphere, while its volume is estimated at $450 million. Two states are expected to construct third transmission line which will connect Iran and Armenia, as well as hydroelectric power plant on Araks River, he added.

Movsisyan said that cooperation between Iran and Armenia can be further developed taking into account capacity of the two countries. In addition, both countries can play an important role in formation and operation of international “North – South” transport corridor, Iran News reports.
