16 March 2011 [12:23] - TODAY.AZ
Royan Institute will launch the first cellular treatment hospital of Iran in the next Iranian year (starting March 21), Nasser Aqdami, Head of the Institute’s Cellular Treatment Center, said, Iran Daily reported with reference to IRNA.

"Plans are on the agenda for launching this hospital, which we hope will become operational next year with the assistance of the government and officialdom," Aqdami told.

He added the launch of this hospital will lead to significant accomplishments in terms of transplanting cartilage bone and treating eye and skin diseases.

Aqdami stressed that with the launch of the hospital, patients will not be sent abroad for treatment. "Procuring the needed stem cells for patients is among the moves adopted by the hospital," he said.

Aqdami noted that the use of cells in treating deadly diseases and in regenerative surgery is among modern modes of treatment.

"The hospital will help render services in a more comprehensive manner,"’ he said.

The official recalled that in the past, stem cells were used for regenerative surgery of blood cells, but recently they are used for regenerative surgery of all tissues of the body.

Aqdami said a building for the hospital has to be made available to Royan Institute and follow-ups are also being made for allocating a building for establishing a large complex.

"This requires the government and Health Ministry to allocate a budget for us," he said.
