Iran urges vigilance against imperialism

16 March 2011 [10:40] - TODAY.AZ
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad calls for "vigilance" by independent countries against the "schemes" devised by imperialist powers, Press TV reported.

"Independent and justice-seeking governments and nations are cautious about imperialism's plans and would not be fooled by them in whatever mask they are," Ahmadinejad said in a meeting with Venezuelan Ambassador to Iran David Velasquez Caraballo on Tuesday.

The Iranian president also said the strengthening of relations between Caracas and Tehran will contribute to peace, security and stability in the region and the world.

The Venezuelan envoy, for his part, said the Islamic Revolution of Iran and the Venezuelan revolution can together overcome imperialism.

In October 2010, Iran and Venezuela signed 11 memorandums of understanding (MoU) during Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's visit to Tehran.

The agreements promoted cooperation in oil, natural gas, textiles, trade and public housing sectors.

The two states also agreed to form a joint oil shipping company and jointly construct petrochemical plants.
