The Iranian government has banned translation of a book about the so-called "Armenian genocide" into the Persian language and its distribution in the country, Saeed Firouzabadi, who translated the book from German into Persian, said, ISNA news agency reported.

"I translated a book by German author Jacob Kunzler "In the land of the tears and blood" and asked for permission to publish it in the  "Nair" printing house. But waiting more than a year, he failed to get permission and publication of this book was banned," Firouzabadi said.

The book "In the land of the tears and blood" narrates about "murders" of Armenians in Turkey during the First World War.

Firouzabadi is a professor at Islamic University 'Azad'.

One is required to get official permission from the relevant department of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance to publish books in Iran.
