Turkey condemns attack on Turk business place in Belgium

09 March 2010 [16:50] - TODAY.AZ
Turkish Embassy in Brussels condemned recent attack on a business place belonged to a Turkish person following detention of suspected PKK members in the country.
The embassy expressed regret over incidents during a demonstration held on Saturday by some 5 thousand supporters of the PKK to protest a police raid on the ROJ TV station to confiscate equipment and documents.

The embassy recalled that a Turkish citizen was beaten up and a business place was damaged during the protest.

"We condemn such acts of violence during demonstrations which were claimed to have been held under freedom of expression. We call on all Turkish people to act with common-sense and not to be a part of such provocations," the embassy added.

Twenty-two people were detained and eight of them were arrested for their alleged connection with the PKK during operations on March 4. Sezai Ucar, PKK's former leader in Belgium, was detained earlier on Monday. He will be transferred to court on Tuesday.
