Turkish police arrest six after shots fired at US consulate in Adana

04 February 2010 [15:35] - TODAY.AZ
Turkish police arrested six suspects Wednesday, believed to be members of al-Qaeda, over shots fired at the U.S. consulate in the southern Turkish city of Adana, Anatolia news agency said.
The shots were fired at the consulate on Monday evening in Adana. Police arrested the six suspects in the southern Turkish city and found documents belonging to al-Qaeda in their homes.

Turkish authorities did not comment on any planned attacks by al-Qaeda on the U.S. consulate.

In July 2008, three gunmen shot dead three policemen at the main entrance of the U.S. consulate in Istanbul.

The subsequent police inquiry had focused on radical Islamic groups, including al-Qaeda.
