In 2009, 2,984 crimes against public health and safety were committed in Armenia, 1,259 of which took place in the country’s capital, Yerevan.
The criminals were uncovered in 2,450 of those incidents.
According to a report by the Armenian Police, the highest number of cases were those that involved narcotics (1,238), preparation and illegal distribution of firearms and ammunition (791), hooliganism (355) and violation of traffic rules (79).
