Georgian Laborites say they didn't turn to UN over issue of elections

According to Kakha Dzagania, the representative of Georgian Laborites, opposition didn't turn to the UN with a request to monitor local authorities' elections this May.
"We turned to the UN with a request on starting consultations on the elections in general. It was clearly said in the statement. Moreover, the address hasn't reached the addressee yet and is still on the way," he said.

On January 6th at the briefing in the UN headquarters in New York Martin Nesirky, the UN Secretary General official representative, said the UN won't monitor elections of local authorities in Georgia despite the request of the Georgian opposition.

Previously Georgia Times reported that the unprecedented request of the Georgian opposition, asking for the local elections to be held under the aegis of the UN, was sent.

The address was delivered to the UN Secretary General, head of the UN General Assembly, members of the UN Security Council.
