White dust falling out of an envelope sent to Council of state President Mustafa Birden created panic at the Ankara Postal Center.

The letter sent to Mustafa Birden, president of the Council of State, was discovered after it spilled its contents at the central post office in the capital Ankara, the state-run Anatolian news agency said.

8 personnel who came into contact with the dust were examined.

The examination revealed that the suspected material was not anthrax.

Birden was the target of a 2006 assassination attempt when a gunman stormed a court building and opened fire on justices, according to testimony from the suspect, newspapers reported in October.

One judge was killed in that attack. The suspect is being prosecuted in the Ergenekon trial, in which some 200 people are being tried for involvement in an alleged ultra-secularist-nationalist plot to overthrow Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's government.
