Iran and South Korea have issued a joint postage stamp called Shilla and Persia as a symbolic act to mark the year of cultural cooperation between the two countries, IRNA reports.

The joint issue with the circulation of 800,000 stamps was unveiled to commemorate the implementation of the cultural cooperation agreement.

The agreement was signed in 2016 when the former South Korean President Park Geun-hye visited Iran.

The postage stamp shows Shilla that is a Korean stone lion that dates back to the 8th and 9th centuries.

The other image on the postage stamp is the Achaemenid Persian Lion Rhyton.

The year 2017 was designated as the year of cultural cooperation between Iran and South Korea.

The history of Iran-South Korea relations dates back to 1,500 years ago.
