A Chinese investor intends to start production of juice extract of licorice, grown in Uzbekistan’s Karakalpakstan Autonomous Republic, Uzbek media reported.
The Autonomous Republic of Karakalpakstan is the region where the most licorice plants are grown. About 70 percent of the products from this plant are exported, especially to China, and the demand for it in the world market is increasingly growing.
In particular, the biggest producers of food, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics are the main buyers of licorice.
Chinese investors are also interested in doing business in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
One of Chinese investors said that Uzbekistan is becoming an attractive place for investments.
