As a result of an attack on Turkish servicemen in the country’s southeastern province of Diyarbakir, five servicemen have been killed, Haber7 newspaper reported on August 24.
According to preliminary data, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorist organization stands behind the attack, said the report.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for over 25 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives.
The UN and the European Union list the PKK as a terrorist organization.
