Situation in Armenia, a country with extremely weak economy and corrupted government, poor people and high level of migration, is worsening day by day.

Armenians, driven to desperate situation, are left alone with increasing prices and taxes, having no ability to maintain at least an average living standard. The country is sinking in crisis, leaving no prospects for new jobs.

Now, the country is face-to-face with one more problem as the forecasts are pessimistically indicating price hike by 10-20 percent on the New Year eve. Taking into account extremely poor situation of the population, these numbers may become a match thrown into a container of gasoline.

"The country has already recorded increase in prices due to the increase in tariffs for gas and electricity, and the 'holiday' inflation is expected to be in the range of 10-20 percent,” said the Chairman of the Armenian National Consumers Association Melita Hakopyan.

At the same time just before the New Year prices will rise due to the low solvency of the population. Hakopyan pointed to passivity of the market this year, a small number of customers.

In her opinion, such a small number of consumers can be explained by lack of necessary money to pay.

In other words, population of this post-Soviet country is so poor that they cannot even afford themselves a holiday shopping.

How the government will behave in this situation remains vague, as few days are left until the most grandiose holiday of the year.
