11 April 2013 [08:51] - TODAY.AZ
Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili does not rule out Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili's examination in the court.

"Many presidents were examined in the courts in Europe and I think that President Saakashvili must understand this," Ivanishvili said at a meeting with editors of newspapers and TV channels.

However, he stressed that the country must part with the Georgian third president in a civilized manner.

Ivanishvili said that the president could be questioned on the case of the August war between Georgia and Russia.

"I believe that the cause of this war must be investigated," he said. "There are a lot of questions on this issue. I think that this investigation will not cause damage to our image as the society needs the truth."

Large scale military action was launched in South Ossetia on August 8, 2008. Later, Russian troops occupied Tskhinvali and expelled the Georgian military.
Russia recognised the independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia in late August. In response, Tbilisi ended diplomatic relations with Moscow and has called the two unrecognised republics of Abkhazia and South Ossetia occupied territories.

The Prime Minister stressed that he has a lot of questions.
