An earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale hit the Turkey's largest city of Istanbul, TRT Turk TV channel said today.
At present, there is no information about victims or damage.
Turkey is located in a seismically active zone where earthquakes often take place. The most powerful earthquakes measuring 7.4 were registered in 1999 in the Sea of Marmara. Around 18,000 people died during that period.
