Turkey to levy fuel tax on vehicles crossing the border

Turkey will levy a tax on fuel in the tank of cars, crossing the country's border, Turkish Minister of Customs and Trade Hayati Yazici said, the Milliyet newspaper reports.

This tax will help eliminate fuel smuggling. The minister did not specify the date from which the law will be applied.

Yazici also noted that in September, Turkey will host a meeting of the tax control board to set tax rates and discuss other details of a new kind of taxation.
