Russia’s deputy Foreign Minister says diplomacy is the best way to end the West’s faceoff with Tehran over its nuclear energy issue as saber-rattling against Iran is every bit as useless as sanctions.
“That is unacceptable and according to all rules must be stopped. Nobody can win concessions from the Iranian side with a policy of threats, no more than with a policy of sanctions,” said Sergei Ryabkov in an interview with Interfax on Tuesday.
The Russian official also warned that “the Middle East standoff could boil over into military action at any moment” calling for urgent talks between Iran and the P5+1 - including the US, the UK, France, China, Russia and Germany.
