Turkish troops, backed by military helicopters and warplanes, killed at least 27 members of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), including two senior operatives, in latest clashes in southeastern Turkey Today`s Zaman reported
Governor of Turkey's southeastern province of Shırnak said late on Friday that 27 PKK members were killed and five others were captured with their arms in Cudi mountain, one of PKK's strongholds in Turkey.
Turkey's state-run TRT TV station also reported on Friday that Serbest Haruni, alleged leader of PKK's camp in Cudi mountain in southeastern province of Shırnak, was among the dead terrorists.
The report said many armed members of the PKK were also captured by the security forces on Friday along with 17 people who were aiding them to escape.
The report said drones first detected terrorists and gathered intelligence about them in Cudi mountain, followed by military operation. During the clashes, Major Sergeant Mehmet Bostanoğlu also killed by PKK terrorists.
The drones also detected a group of terrorists in Shırnak's İdil district. Gendarmerie special forces and troops were dispatched to the area. During the clashes, leader of PKK camp in Cehennem Deresi, Agit Batman, was killed
