Azerbaijani FM holds several meetings in Germany

Azerbaijan`s foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov has had several bilateral meetings with foreign ministers on the sidelines of an International Conference on Afghanistan in Bonn, Germany.

In a meeting with Turkmenistan`s foreign minister Rashid Meredov, Mammadyarov explored ways of boosting the two countries` cooperation, particularly in the economic and energy fields. With Ukraine`s foreign minister Konstantin Grishenko, the Azerbaijani minister exchanged views on broadening the bilateral relations, especially the economic, investment and energy cooperation. They also discussed cooperation within international organizations, as well as the development of GUAM.

Mammadyarov`s meeting with Ireland`s Minister of State for Trade and Development Jan O’Sullivan discussed prospects of expanding the Azerbaijan-Ireland relations, and the two countries` cooperation within international organizations.

Mammadyarov also met Portugal’s FM Paulo de Sacadura Cabral Portas. The Portuguese Minister congratulated Mammadyarov on Azerbaijan’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, expressing hope the two countries will fruitfully cooperate within the Security Council. The Portuguese FM emphasized his country`s interest in cooperating with Azerbaijan in many spheres, in particular in agriculture and information and communication technologies sectors.
