“Der Standard”: Azerbaijan demands political solution

The Austrian influential daily “Der Standard” has published an article titled “Nagorno Karabakh. Azerbaijan demands political solution”. The article was prepared on the basis of statements the deputy foreign minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov made at the meeting with the media representatives of this country. Mr. Azimov, in particular, stated on the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Azerbaijan`s economic potential, its energy policy and the role Azerbaijan plays in region.

 The article states that Azerbaijan`s position in settlement of the conflict is the principle of territorial integrity, that is, the occupied Azerbaijani territories should be returned. To this end, Araz Azimov said Azerbaijan does not wish military solution of the conflict and supports political solution of the problem.

Delay of the conflict, according to Azimov, will cause unprecedented dangers both in the South Caucasus region and in Europe. This conflict in which the oil rich and transit country of Azerbaijan is involved, can generate a serious threat for the energy security of Europe, he underlined.
