Russia welcomes Azerbaijan's joining the UN Security Council. The issue resolved in the Security Council shows Russia's work in this direction, the Russian Foreign Ministry official representative Alexander Lukashevich said at a weekly briefing, Channel 24 reported.
"Baku will receive dividends," he said. "They are linked to the priorities of Azerbaijani leadership. As far as I know, the Azerbaijani colleagues are very interested in conducting the targeted consultations through the foreign ministries of our countries."
Azerbaijan was elected a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2012-2013, gaining 155 votes from the UN member countries.
