President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received credentials of the newly-appointed ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Peter Bateman.

The Ambassador passed along the guard of honor. He handed over the credentials to the Head of State.

President Ilham Aliyev had a conversation with the ambassador. The Head of State said Azerbaijan-UK relationship was developing successfully in political, economic and cultural spheres. President Ilham Aliyev highly estimated activities of the British companies in energy, business and cultural sectors of Azerbaijan.

The Head of State also stressed good traditions in relations between Azerbaijan and the UK expressing assurance on future expansion of the bilateral ties and wished him successes.

Ambassador Bateman, in turn, extended greetings by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom to President Ilham Aliyev.

The UK`s ambassador said during his tenure he would spare no efforts to contribute to boosting relationship between the two countries. President Ilham Aliyev reminded his meeting with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II some years ago. President Ilham Aliyev asked the ambassador to convey his greetings to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The parties shared views on international and regional issues.

President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan today received the delegation led by Turkey`s defense minister Ismet Yilmaz. President Aliyev congratulated Ismet Yilmaz on his appointment as defense minister of Turkey, wished him success in his new post. The Head of State praised the visit on the level of defense ministries, underlining this is successful especially in defense field. At his words, the visit will promote strengthening of ties between relevant structures of fraternal countries.

Turkey`s defense minister Ismet Yilmaz conveyed greetings of the president of Turkey Abdullah Gul and Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the President of Azerbaijan. Yilmaz said he was pleased with his first official visit to Azerbaijan as the defense minister of Turkey. “The words “one nation, two states” told by national leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev are already accepted over the world,” Ismet Yilmas emphasized.

President Aliyev thanked for greetings from the President and Premier of Turkey and asked to convey his greetings also to them.
